Poi Care and Best Practices Sheet!

Storage:

• Store in a well ventilated area.
• Avoid storing it in a tight closed bag as the tethers can absorb fuel from the heads
• Avoid storing it in a bag where it comes in direct contact with other fire props for the same reason above
• Store in a dark dry environment. Exposure to sun can harm and harden the technora and kevlar over time due to UV exposure
• Dont play catch with your dog with it

Fueling:

• dip only half of the way only for a max of 3 seconds (absolutely no longer than 5 seconds). 100% kevlar is like a sponge the fuel will spread up quickly on its own you dont need a long soak
• do not under any circumstance ever leave the poi soaked in a tin can before or after a burn. Some people carelessly leave their pois sitting in the can when not in use, while with chain poi this may not be an issue, with technora poi this will lead the it to absorb a lot of fuel in the leash.
• Pay attention. Often people fuel in a rush and while yes they only dip halfway they splash the poi into the can/sprinkle aggressively, and get unnecessary splashes of fuel on to their tethers. 

Spinning:

• preferably use a low temp burning fuel like pure lamp oil, or kerosene. Try to stay away from charcoal fluid unless you are stuck in a pinch and thats the only option available for a one time performance. Definitely never spin gasoline, it is way too hot and will double the speed of the degradation of your poi.
• do not leave the poi lit and lying flat on the ground while you get ready for your performance. The more stationary a prop > more heat it absorbs > the faster it degrades. This applies both to technora and to kevlar.
• When spinning try not to keep the poi vertical for too long. Past 5 seconds thats a lot of heat exposure on the leash. If you need to stall till you do something keep the poi swinging, that reduces the heat absorption and also avoids the concentration of heat in one spot.
• To keep your kevlar long lasting try to avoid spinning the fire till the last second, instead practice ending your performance when the fire starts to dwindle and turn blue, as at that point theres almost no fuel left in the rope and the fire is essentially eating away at and drying the kevlar fibers.
• If after dipping correctly you see some fire crawl up the leash, dont be alarmed. Its due to the fact that the core of the poi is not completely sealed off from the technora and sometimes a little fuel leaks through, just keep spinning and that fuel will naturally be spun out of the leash, the continuous motion will also cool the area enough to ensure no damage happens:
• To extinguish your poi use a damp (damp.. not soaking wet) cloth and tap dry for a second to suffocate the fire. And then let the prop sit in a ventilated area. Do not leave it in the wet towel to soak up water.
• Never extinguish your poi in a bucket of water.
• Try not to spin drunk.

Inspection:

• always inspect your poi before and after every performance to be aware of the health of all of the components. All props break and deteriorate over time, however being aware of the state of the prop at all times helps you apply preventative maintenance when needed and also avoid catastrophic failure.

التزود بالوقود:

• اغمس نصف الطريق فقط لمدة أقصاها 3 ثوانٍ (لا تزيد على الإطلاق عن 5 ثوانٍ). الكيفلار يشبه الإسفنجة، حيث ينتشر الوقود بسرعة من تلقاء نفسه ولا تحتاج إلى نقعه لفترة طويلة

• لا تترك تحت أي ظرف من الظروف البوي منقوعًا في علبة من الصفيح قبل أو بعد الحرق. يترك بعض الأشخاص أدواتهم في العلبة بلا مبالاة عندما لا تكون قيد الاستخدام، في حين أنه مع سلسلة poi قد لا يكون هذا مشكلة، مع technora poi سيؤدي ذلك إلى امتصاص الكثير من الوقود في المقود.

الفحص:

• قم دائمًا بفحص البوي الخاص بك قبل وبعد كل أداء لتكون على دراية بسلامة جميع المكونات. تنكسر جميع الدعامات وتتدهور بمرور الوقت، إلا أن معرفة حالة الدعامة في جميع الأوقات يساعدك على تطبيق الصيانة الوقائية عند الحاجة وكذلك تجنب الفشل الكارثي.
